"Soma Time" #1 - After Hours

Enter The Soma (Take 2)
We re-launched the BlogTalkRadio show WED night with a new format, an attempt at a new theme song, (please see this week's survey), and a review of the somatic paradigm. And just as the video above from Seinfield suggests, any attempt to even DEFINE somatics is met with rolled eyes and/or blank stares. With that, we pressed on and revealed that our intent with this new show is to provide anyone listening (especially our clients, professional partners, and future sponsors and virtual sales reps) a 24/7 support system to effectively translate what we're calling the allopathic alphabet (see below) into the 1st person vantage point of somatics. We also introduced the basics of our work, The Somatic Method, and you can get involved. One of them is to hang here at TDP with us.

WordSoma - Blogger's text format sucks out loud, so we'll post the key words here but eventually we'll just create a page on one our other cheapass servers that doesn't play as many games. For this first show we had some old friends re-surface. So bear with us as we introduce these terms here in the 'flow' of a text block instead of a nice, neat list. The first one is Soma. Ugh - OK, if we have to...here's a nice neat link to click on, print and slap on the old fridge: Somas are just self-moving and self-experiencing sensory-motor systems - more on wtf that is here...The next one is Moo's. These are people who practice what is the accepted as the conventional wisdom even when it doesn't work. Then we have the Woo's who are people that practice all the unconventional wisdom even when they can't explain it well to Moo's. Finally we touched on The Big Lie. That's the one where the government protects you, the educational system makes you smart and that the health care system keeps you well. Somatics is about discovering your Big Truth, which is that only you can protect yourself, teach yourself and care for yourself best.

Allopathic Alphabet
Anxiety
- Commonly linked with mania and other mental health conditions, it's really just a bodily fear of falling left over from early development. Moshe Feldenkrais was the best sape to consult on this topic - Check out the article on it here...

Time Techniques
On of the biggest concepts of TSM is that we're conditioned to split time from space and mind from body through the 3rd person realm of socialization. As we make our way through the allopathic alphabet, we'll offer more ways to correct this so you can experience mind-body and space-time in their proper orientation. On this show, we talked about how to get off the kinesthetic shish kabob and regain awareness of your visual timeline. For more on that, check out this
diagrammed summary.
